~Student success statement~
Regarding successful living:
“There is no giant step that does it. It’s a lot of little steps.”
We don’t lose many pounds with just one hour of exercise, we lose it with many weekly hours of exercises. We don’t get our grades up with just one assignment, but with various assignments we do. We don’t get good at something with just one practice, but with many practices. Everything takes times and everything takes one step at time processes. We do and do and do until it becomes something; until we become something. If we want to be a well payed lawyer, and you go to school and study and then you get clients because you’re good and then you get even more clients, then suddenly you’re a well-known successful lawyer. We come to be what we put in and work for. Success isn’t achieved in one day or night, but with several days and nights. We take small steps in order to achieve the possible. We learned to walk, when we were just infants we started to move and to crawl, then we grew older and we started to walk, and then we started to run. Its the same with every situation and scenario that involves succeeding at some task and accomplishing goals.

“Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it.”
We can’t just follow what everyone does because there are times when what everyone is doing is wrong. Its good to not be a follower and its good to do your own thing for once, you know? Being a lonely bystander is actually better than being in some huge crowd. Because when you ar e alone your own thoughts are what shape you, not what others around you think. Nowadays society and people are going down some wrong paths and its hard to stay you and be the good person you feel and deep down know you are. Society influences us a lot. Though, what i don’t understand is why we all follow and why society spends most of their time being wrong. If others were good we would be too. Since when was it “cool” to do drugs and have sex? Since when was it “cool” to do bad things? Imagine if it was “cool” to be nice and polite and to be just people, who don’t use violence or weapons and instead live off of the good things in life. Would we actually be better people? Or would we become just as bad as now because its too mainstream to be good?

“Cowardice asks the question ‘Is it Safe?’
Expediency asks the question ‘Is it politic?’
Vanity asks the question ‘Is it popular?’
But, conscience ask the question, ‘Is it right?’
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe,
nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one’s conscience tells one that it is right.”
Martin Luther King Jr.
Heroic quote. Superheroes have to over come this too. they save people in there comics and fight for the people and justice.
We all have to face situations when we are placed in a scenario where our mind is telling us all the questions but our conscience is telling us to go for it and that it’s the right thing to do. for example when you see someone being bullied and your conscience tells you to help that person. You think it isn’t safe if you see a tough guy wanting to beat a little guy up. you know it’s not smart to put yourself in such a situation where you can get hurt. You know not many people would stop and help but your mind tells you to help. Your decision to help or not , pretty much, determines whether or not you yourself are a hero or not. You go and help a person and risk getting hurt yourself and you risk being told things by others and you know it’s not smart. But your mind knows its right to speak up and aide that person in there terrible scenario. Sometimes society and our own minds will make us question the right thing to do. another example is when you want to protest against something you know isn’t right. When you see or witness injustice and you want to make justice happen. you either stand there mistreated in an unjust place or you fight for rights and justice. No one said choosing the right was easy, no one said it wasn’t hard, no one said it wasn’t risky and no one said you wouldn’t get hurt. Only good things can come from doing the right thing. Martin Luther king Jr. fought for equality for his race and yes he faced hardships and yes he got hurt a few times and yes he did stand alone sometimes but he fought for what he believed in. He became a hero, who seeked equality, peace, and justice for everyone.

” Let us have faith that right makes right, and in that faith let us to the end dare to do our duty as we understand it.”
We must believe that right makes things right. If you lie and you come clean and are honest then it becomes right because you then would receive the consequences you deserve for your lie. It is right to tell the truth right in the moment but it is never to late to fess up to your wrong doings. Always try to do the right thing because in the end that is what matters. It is what makes who we are, honest and righteous or deceiving and wrong.

” The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon :
self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-esteem.”
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Doing right is rewarding to us to our own mind and soul. It can and does help other but who it helps the most is us. We feel clean when do not do anything wrong and when we do the right thing.
